Formulating opens the way for tailoring products for specific applications and combining components with often contradicting properties. Formulation science and technology is a core discipline for industries and applications like home care, cosmetics, plant protection and coatings but also of emerging importance in fields like electronics, composite materials and biomedical technology. It is offering fast product development of novel chemistry and plays an important role to serve customer needs. In addition, formulation has a huge economic impact, virtually all areas of our daily life are more or less affected. It is conservatively estimated that the total turnover of the companies in Europe whose business lies mainly in producing and selling formulated products is about Euro 500 bn.

Formula V has a multi-disciplinary approach and addresses topics like smart formulations, ingredients for higher performance, formulation of solid materials, but also important technologies as interfacial phenomena, nanoscale formulation, analytical techniques and high-throughput formulations. The mission of the organisers is to bring together scientists, engineers and other specialists working in the field of formulation: from cosmetics to plant protection, as well as pharmaceuticals, paints & coatings, glasses & ceramics, rubbers, detergents & home care products and producers/ users of performance additives for oil, mining, or water & soil remediation. This networking is especially important as synergies between different fields of application, i.e. cosmetics and paints, could be exploited.

The conference not only promotes interactions between international researchers, but also between industrialists, academics and political decision-makers. Consequently, ”Formulating Across Boundaries“ is the motto of Formula V.

Formula V simply gives you the chance for networking at its best. The latest research results will be presented and discussed in sessions covering virtually all fields of formulation including topics of prime industrial importance. The congress will be accompanied by an exhibition at which companies, research institutes and organisations will present their products, services and activities. The sessions and exhibitors provide excellent opportunities to learn more about the secrets of formulation and the science behind, to hear the latest information about recent developments, to make contact with formulation experts and to find cooperation partners or customers.

The Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (DECHEMA e.V.), the Société Française de Chimie (SFC), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the German Chemical Society (GDCh) will host Formula V – the 5th conference on formulation technology and would like to welcome you to the beautiful city of Potsdam, the gateway to Berlin and the former residence of the Kings of Prussia.
